The Position:

Our clients require an Electrical Systems Manager with extensive GCC Factories Electrical experience to join their team based in Midrand.

Key responsibilities:

- To maintain the Operator’ assets and ensure that safety, quality and performance targets are achieved.

- To execute maintenance policy, standards and procedures and ensure reliable and safe equipment.

- To ensure seamless travel for our customers that is safe, reliable, comfortable and friendly


Qualifications and experience:

- Grade 12

- Bsc/B-Tech in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current, GCC Factories Electrical will be an advantage for the position)

- At least 5 years’ relevant experience in maintenance operations

- Safety management

- General railway industry knowledge

- General knowledge of Electromechanical Sub-systems

- MMIS (Especially Maximo) knowledge would be appreciated

- Fluent in English


Inherent job requirements:

- To maintain the operator’s Electrical, Electronic and Instrumentation equipment on a planned and emergency basis.

- To ensure the Electrical systems (HV/LV, Traction power), fire detection, Signalling, Station and Tunnel Maintenance information System, Access control and devices, availability is kept to a high standard that will guarantee maximum operational efficiency and maintain standards of product quality and service.

- Follow-up on technical objectives related to the quality and the efficiency of the maintenance activities.

- Ensure maintenance plan is executed and equipment is ready for use as required.

- Conduct investigations into safety critical and failures and ensure implementation of recommendations.


Job Description

- Manage maintenance sub-contract with respect to safety, quality and technical issues.

- Implement the Maintenance Plans and control they are executed effectively for the relevant equipment (Electrical, Electronic and Instrumentation) and systems to run as specified / designed for.

- Ensure minimum levels of equipment downtime including timely and effective response to breakdowns.

- Ensure contractors comply with all applicable regulations.

- Enforce compliance to health and safety practises and regulations and ensure monthly safety audits are conducted.

- Guarantee internal controls and works inspections are done and effective.

- Analyse equipment defects in a timely manner to limit downtimes and propose medium terms action plans.

- Take a proactive role in site projects, representing the engineering function.

- Manage and update maintenance specifications and procedures.

- Propose and manage unit budget.

- Conduct analysis on obsolescence treatment.

- Control Operator’s configuration management activities.

- Adhere to continuous improvement principles.

- Abide to general housekeeping rules

- Undertake any other duties as assigned
